The Association aims to counter and reduce voluntary social withdrawal (hikikomori) and all potentially related issues (such as social phobia, school dropout, dependence on new technologies, and anxiety-depressive syndromes) through actions of information and awareness-raising, direct support, counseling, and training.”
Hikikomori Italia ETS was founded in 2017 with the purpose of creating a national network of professionals and organizations interested in the issue of chronic youth social withdrawal. We organize educational and awareness-raising events throughout the country and, through our affiliated and continuously trained psychologists, facilitate peer-support groups promoted by the association Hikikomori Italia Genitori ETS, which was established at the same time.
Moreover, thanks to your contributions through the 5×1000 program, we are able to offer free psychological support to young people experiencing social withdrawal who wish to reconnect with the world. This support can take the form of individual or group sessions and, in some cases, may also include home-based interventions.
